Dear Friend,
Welcome to JHM Global Pre-Nursing Internship!
Throughout the world nursing programs are impacted by admission demand exceeding available spots.
In the U.S. this is even more of a problem! In the school year 2004-2005, approximately 147,000 qualified
applicants to all degree levels in nursing programs were turned down according to
figures released from the National League for Nursing.
In 2003-2004, 125,000 qualified applicants were turned away. This number continues to rise each year.
According to preliminary data for 2008 from the AACN (American Association of Colleges of Nursing), enrollment in BSN courses has continued to increase each year for the past eight years. However, the number of qualified students turned away from BSN program also remained high. While enrollment increased by 4.98% in 2007, there were approximately 30,709 qualified BSN candidates who were denied admission to a nursing program. The AACN expects the final number for 2008 to be even higher when exact data is available in mid 2009. [Source: www.thenursingsite.com]
So what are your chances?
The questions are:
What does this mean for prospective students? It means you have to become the best possible candidate
for the program you want to enter. It also means you have to have an EXTRA PUNCH strategy.
1] What is that EXTRA PUNCH that you are willing to pack that will give you an edge?
2] What will make you stand out above the other thousands of applicants?
3] What steps are you prepared to take to secure admission?
PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF NURSING COUNTS?
Many nursing school applicants merely have a superficial or romantic view of nursing.
Many have not worked in a clinical environment or have a conversation with a nurse about nursing nor have they
ever been in a clinical/hospital environment to get a first hand feel for the career.
Most prospective applicants also DO NOT really have the direct experience of walking in the steps of a nurse
for an hour let alone for a week or longer.
It is impossible to demonstrate genuine passion for the sick during your nursing school interview if you have
not had any experience with patients or ever been inside a hospital environment.
Nursing school is not the place to discover what NURSING is REALLY about.
You owe it yourself to have gained some first hand experience prior to enrolling in a nursing program.
OUR NURSING INTERNSHIP PROGRAM CAN HELP YOU
