Welcome to JHM Global Nursing Internship!
The Nursing clinical rotation and elective programs are available through our JHM Global Medical partner hospitals as
well as through our partner clinics and Faith based dispensaries in Kenya, Uganda & India. We are thrilled that
you are considering experiencing your clinical clerkship through us. You must the registered in an approved
nursing school/college program and have the written permission of the Director of Clinical Internship of your
Nursing College/University in order to participate in our program.
Many of our partner hospitals, are certified as critical access hospital facilities, having 100-250 inpatient beds.
The Internship Program provides students with an opportunity to gain professional-level experience in an integrated
healthcare setting. Under the direct supervision of the registered nurses, the nurse intern performs those nursing
tasks for which she/he has been trained and in which she/he is able to demonstrate competency.
Duties may vary based on individual's experience. Intern positions are scheduled for a minimum of 30-50 hours per week,
however hours and shifts may vary by assignmen,t choice and zeal of the intern.

ROTATION/ELECTIVES DURATION
Depending on the course curriculum you are following at your medical school, rotations are available for
durations of 2,3,4,6,8 or 12 weeks Maximum per rotation/Elective.
OUR NURSING INTERNSHIP PROGRAM CAN HELP YOU
By participating in our nursing internship, you are able to:
1] Gain comprehensive nursing experience by working alongside seasoned nurses for 2-4 weeks or more.
2] Experience nursing in a clinical, surgical and a challenging hospital environment.
3] Meet with, talk to and assist patients in a clinical/hospital environment.
4] Attend as a NURSING helper in the following areas/departments of Nursing care:
Family Practice, General Surgery, Obstretics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Antenatal & Miwifery clinic,
Emergency Medicine [Casualty], Radiology, Intensive Care Unit, Anti-Retrovial Treatment Unit[HIV], etc.
5] Operate as a full member of a didatic nursing team making changes in people's lives everyday.
6] You get to take medical history, observe and record patient's vital signs and record patient progress, etc.
7] Attend nursng workshops as scheduled during your time with us.
8] Have interview sessions with professional nurses and other nursing healthcare workers.
9] Participate in Mobile Nursing Outreach to local villages & comunities.
10] Get to deal with poor patients who are struggling and suffering & living a hard life in the third world.
11] Accompany a homecare nurses/health workers on home visits to the sick in the communities.
12] Attend a final nursing de-briefing workshop before you depart the nursing mission field.

1] Get a chance to visit to local museums, Safari Parks and tropical rain forests.
2] Visit unique mountain sites and experience/explore local music and cuisine.
3] You get to make new friends and forge lasting friendships that may last a life time
4] Return home trully impacted and inspired.
INTERNSHIP ASSESSMENT
The supervisor evaluates your work at the end of the experience following the formats generally set
by University; this allows you to receive adequate academic credit for the internship.
CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION
At the end of your internship you will be awarded a certificate of completion and a written
testimonial of your activities & services renedered whilst with us.
HOSPITAL PLACEMENT
Your midwifery internship will take place at our partner local, district, private and general hospitals/clinics
in Kitale area as well as in the Mount Elgon communities of Kenya.
